The opening scene first gave you a sense of security, then makes it more dramatic when the little boy gets shot. It sets up the story so we can sort of tell what he will be trying to do in the rest of the film but are still intrigued to know what will happen.

It was a well constructed opening sequence because it had a well laid out theme, it linked the mise-en-scene with the title. It was easy to understand and gave a meaning to the film without watching it all. It made us want to watch it.
